“…developers no longer need to rely on the BioID Web Service API to leverage the technology, as they can directly implement the source code for both the Android and iOS systems in their apps…”
Germany-based BioID has brought its facial recognition system to Android devices and is offering the source code to interested developers.
The company first launched its facial biometrics authentication service for iOS in late 2015, enabling companies to offer facial recognition as a password replacement via iPhones and iPads. Now, the technology’s release on Android vastly expands its availability to smartphone users.
At the same time, developers no longer need to rely on the BioID Web Service API to leverage the technology, as they can directly implement the source code for both the Android and iOS systems in their apps – “a great tool for quick and easy implementation of biometric recognition,” as the company’s CEO Ho Chang put it in a statement announcing the offerings.
The move comes soon after the integration of BioID’s facial recognition technology into the Worldcore digital banking platform, announced last week.
