This November, once again the financial world will turn its eye to Las Vegas for the Money20/20 conference and exhibition. Taking place from November 2 through 6, the major industry event will feature more than 100 sessions with over 400 speakers. Last year, Mobile ID World was there, and we were able to break the news that Validity had been purchased by Synaptics, as well as report on new ideas in marketing and mobile payment.
This year, Money20/20 will be hosting its first ever Money20/20 Hackathon, to be held October 31 to November 2, 2014 at the Aria Resort and Casino. Teams of one to five members – comprised of developers, designers and entrepreneurs – will compete over 36 hours, developing FinTech applications. The teams will use APIs, SDKs and other tools from MasterCard, ModoPayments, PayPal and seven other major payment and financial service providers.
At stake is a prize pool of $125,000 that will be shared by 10 winning teams. The team that lands in first place will also win the opportunity to present their resulting solution as part of Money20/20’s Launchpad360 program: an initiative that offers companies a stage on which to showcase their products to an audience of investors.
Money20/20’s president and cofounder, Simran R. Aggarwal, comments: “The way people and businesses manage, spend and borrow money is changing, with transactions increasingly only part of more connected everyday activities. Open and interoperable platforms are enabling integrated innovations such as mobile wallets, seamless authentication and identification, omni-channel and micro-location shopping experiences, data-enriched services, cloud point-of-sale engagement and much more. We are proud to support innovation in payment and financial services as a core part of the Money20/20 experience”.
“The Money20/20 Hackathon provides an unparalleled opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs to help create great commerce and payments experiences,” says Mario Shiliashki, group head and senior vice president, Open API and Emerging Payments at MasterCard.
