“Now, with its MasterCard certification, [Gemalto] has added further polish to its profile in the growing mobile payment market…”
MasterCard has approved Gemalto’s Cloud-Based Payment (CBP) solution, making the latter the first mPayment vendor in the world to receive such certification.
Building on the certification Gemalto received last month for its SafeNet Luna Electronic Funds Transfer Payment Hardware Security Module, its CBP solution has now also been certified by MasterCard in the areas of Account Enablement System, Credentials Management System, Mobile Payment Application, and Transaction Management System. This essentially means that Gemalto’s CBP solution is fully certified by MasterCard to bring digital payment cards to mobile apps and other Host Card Emulation platforms.
Commenting on the certification in a press release, Gemalto Mobile Financial Services SVP Jean-Claude Deturche said it highlights Gemalto’s CBP solution as “another flexible and highlight efficient route” into the “fast-growing market” of secure mobile payment.
Gemalto ended last year in a strong position with respect to both the mobile commerce market and in the banking card technologies market. Now, with its MasterCard certification, it has added further polish to its profile in the growing mobile payment market, which could prove a lucrative one in the months and years to come.
