This week, Fingerprint Cards announced a major order of its FPC1025 fingerprint sensors from China. Meanwhile, DERMALOG showcased its own ultra-small fingerprint sensor in Germany at this year’s CeBIT event and Authentify partnered with LifeMed ID to bring biometric security to patient ID.

The past week brought with it news of mobile innovation and mCommerce conversation. Alipay announced that it will be using facial recognition for online payment authentication – a decision that raised some skeptical eyebrows – while a bank in Buffalo, New York, announced its support for Apple Pay. Speaking of Apple, the US Copyright Office published a number of the company’s biometric patents.
In addition to all of this, it looks like smartphone battery life will be getting a major upgrade thanks to a new partnership between Dyson and a University of Michigan startup.
