The next OnePlus smartphone will feature a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device.
As Android Headlines reports, the design was confirmed by OnePlus founder Liu Zuotu on the Weibo social media network when a user asked him if the device will have the sensor on the front and he replied, simply, ‘Yes’. That means OnePlus is sticking with the more familiar design of the OnePlus 3T, and not opting to emulate Samsung, which moved the fingerprint sensor to the rear of its Galaxy S8 devices to make room for a full-size display.
The China-based smartphone maker has also confirmed that the device will feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, will launch in summer, and will be called the OnePlus 5, despite the fact that its most recent smartphone was the OnePlus 3T, a variant model of the OnePlus 3. In that respect, it does follow the example of Samsung, which skipped a number when proceeding from its Galaxy Note 5 device to its Note7 smartphone.
