Fingerprint
Fingerprints were all over the news last week. We saw business operations from fingerprint sensors companies Fingerprint Cards and NEXT Biometrics, while Goodix won CES innovation awards and Synaptics weighed in on the benefits of on-device matching. The latest iOS update has been messing up the Touch ID sensor on some iPhones, a biometric bike lock is the subject of a Kickstarter campaign and the Vivo X6 handset looks like it will be sporting an embedded sensor. Finally, we also learned about how NEXT Biometrics will be involved with CARTES 2015.

A Dutch innovation museum has deployed FST Biometrics’ multimodal IMID solution to improve visitors’ experiences and show off the multimodal technology. Amazon Web Services, meanwhile, has started to offer ImageWare’s Cloud2Drive solution. South Korean telecoms are aiming for multimodal readiness too, with the announcement that they plan to offer FIDO Ready services to customers in the new year.

PayPal completed its acquisition of Xoom last week, while speculation rose on Apple’s forthcoming P2P payment service.
