New Selfie-Check SDK Offers Improved Liveness Detection

Safran Identity & Security has announced a new version of its Selfie-Check software development kit that offers improved liveness detection.

New Selfie-Check SDK Offers Improved Liveness DetectionBased on facial recognition, the mobile system now prompts the user to turn their head left, right, up, or down during the authentication process. In so doing, it prevents would-be hackers from using static images to trick the biometric system; the user’s actual face needs to be live in front of the mobile device’s camera.

In a statement announcing the upgrade, Safran Identity & Security VP Yves Portalier said it’s a product of the company’s “extensive biometric experience and our strategy of constant improvement,” adding that the improvement “considerably strengthens the security and reliability of a biometric system and reduces the risk of hacking and fraud.”

Safran will show off the enhanced solution next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which runs from February 27 to March 2.
