Synaptics Inc. fingerprint sensor technology is being integrated into new Alcatel smartphones from US-based TCL Communication.
In a statement, the companies did not specify which specific mobile device models would sport Synaptics technology, but suggested that its Natural ID fingerprint sensor tech would appear in multiple devices. Commenting on the integrations TCL Communication VP Alain Lejeune said “Synaptics’ authentication performance is well recognized by the industry and fulfills TCL Communication’s commitment to continuously providing consumers with an innovative and secured private mobile technology experience.”
News of the collaboration coincides with the announcement of another integration, via Precise Biometrics, whose biometric algorithm software has been embedded together with a Synaptics sensor into a smartphone from a “leading Chinese vendor”. Together, the integrations point to a rising profile for Synaptics in the overall mobile biometrics market, which continues to grow as fingerprint scanners become increasingly standard features on smartphones.
