Anticipating Biometric Cards Growth, Zwipe Appoints Three New Execs

December 8, 2020

Zwipe is positioning for aggressive growth in the biometric payment cards market with the appointment of three new senior executives, all of whom have experience in payments-related areas.

John Goodale will become Zwipe’s new Chief Sales Officer in January. The bulk of his experience in the business world has been with the Global Payments company TSYS, which he joined as Business Expansion Group Executive in December of 2002. At the start of 2018, he was named TSYS’s SVP of Sales and Business Development, and he left the company in September of this year.

In announcing his appointment, Zwipe indicated that Goodale “will lead Zwipe’s engagement and conversion efforts with smart card manufacturers,” while also supporting the company’s efforts to engage with card issuers and other partners.

Zwipe has also named its new VP of Key Accounts. Like John Goodale, Andy Saines will take upon his new position next month. Previously, he served for five years as UK Sales Director for Giesecke + Devrient Mobile Security; before that, he spent 18 years with Entrust Datacard, serving as EMEA Sales Director for the last five years of his tenure there.

Zwipe’s third appointment, meanwhile, already started as the company’s Marketing and Communications VP on December 1st. Anders Bigseth has held senior communications roles with multiple firms including Teller (formerly Visa Norway), Nets, DnB NOR, MSD Norge, and, most recently, Huawei Norge, where he was Senior Manager of Public Relations.

The appointments come amid a growing buzz of activity in the emerging biometric cards space, with Zwipe having announced new strategic efforts with VeriTech and TietoEVRY in just the last few weeks. In its Q3 update for 2020, the company indicated that it anticipates large-scale commercial deployments of its biometric payment card technology in 2021, a new phase of the industry for which Zwipe is clearly positioning itself with these latest appointments.

“The biometric payments marketplace is evolving quickly, and we see a strong increase in the demand for Zwipe’s products and services globally,” explained Zwipe CEO André Løvestam. “I am delighted that we have been able to attract such qualified and talented new team members from such prominent companies. This is a testament to our strong position and future outlook.”
