Fingerprint Cards AB Launches FPC1150 Home-Button Touch Sensor For Android and Windows

May 21, 2014

“The FPC1150 was built on the shoulders of its two most recent touch sensor predecessors. Thanks to this, the sensor not only quickly made it to launch, but also boasts ultra-low power consumption, high customizability and strong durability which is particularly important on a home-button.”

FPC Launches Biometric Fingerprint Sensor For Android and WindowsToday, swedish sensor manufacturer Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) announced the launch of the new FPC1150: the first touch fingerprint sensor designed to be mounted in the home button on the front side of Android and Windows mobile devices.

Rectangular and half the size of the FPC1020, the new sensor has come very quickly on the heels of other products developed by Fingerprint Cards. The company attributes this rabid pace to the fact that it has been collaborating with its newly acquired Subsidiary Anacatum Design.

“The FPC1150 is FPC’s most significant product launch to date,” sais Jörgen Lantto, executive vice president, CTO and head of strategy and product management at FPC. “Using the FPC1150, smartphone and tablet OEMs can now for the first time integrate a touch fingerprint sensor as a home button mounted on the front of the device without having to compromise the industrial design of the device, and yet deliver the ultimate experience in secure user authentication.”

The FPC1150 was built on the shoulders of its two most recent touch sensor predecessors. Thanks to this, the sensor not only quickly made it to launch, but also boasts ultra-low power consumption, high customizability and strong durability which is particularly important on a home-button.

Fingerprint Cards reports that the first deliveries of engineering samples will be delivered shortly, with mass-market manufacturing to start as early as 2014’s third quarter.

This is the second touch sensor in as many months to be launched by Fingerprint Cards, the FPC1021 having been released in April.
