Precise Biometrics’ algorithm software is powering the biometric recognition capabilities of Fingerprint Cards’ new FPC-BM fingerprint module. The module features the company’s Precise BioMatch Embedded technology.
FPC announced the fingerprint module this week, billing it as a standalone, comprehensive fingerprint biometrics unit offering plug-and-play functionality and a range of potential applications, from the automotive sector to the Internet of Things. This means it could bring Precise Biometrics’ algorithm software to a wide range of devices, generating substantial licensing revenues in the process.
Distinct from the Precise BioMatch Mobile technology that is so often used with FPC sensors in smartphone integrations, Precise BioMatch Embedded is the same algorithm software technology that Precise Biometrics recently licensed to FPC for its smart card endeavors. Commenting on the technology in a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson suggested it would be ideal for the kinds of integrations that FPC-BM is likely to see, asserting, “Precise BioMatch Embedded provides a superior user experience for this type of resource-constrained environments.”
With FPC expecting the first devices featuring FPC-BM to arrive in Q3, we should see such results in action soon.
