FPC Fingerprint Sensor Complements Voice, Facial Recognition on New LG V30

August 31, 2017

LG’s new flagship phone, the LG V30, was unveiled at this week’s IFA Berlin consumer electronics trade show and features an FPC1035 fingerprint sensor, Fingerprint Cards has revealed.

FPC Fingerprint Sensor Complements Voice, Facial Recognition on New LG V30LG is a longtime client of FPC, having used the same fingerprint sensor model in its recent LG Q8 smartphone and numerous other recent devices. The sensor is located on the rear of the new V30, freeing space for LG to implement a full-size display on the front; and according to The Verge’s review, it’s “mercifully in the right place where your index finger naturally rests.”

The fingerprint sensor complements other biometric authentication capabilities, with the V30 featuring facial and voice recognition for device unlocking. That means apps on the device could leverage up to three forms of biometrics for super-secure multi-factor authentication.

The V30 will launch in South Korea on September 21st, to be followed by a global rollout for which LG hasn’t yet offered a timetable.
