HYPR Announces Biometric IoT Security Platform

May 19, 2015

HYPR CorpHYPR Announces Biometric IoT Security Platform . is launching a new security platform for the Internet of Things. Called the Biometric Security Integration Kit, it’s an end-to-end solution that can secure both devices and applications. The Kit will be launched this summer in North America and Europe.

It’s meant to be an embedded, under-the-hood security solution that the company calls “future-proof”, compatible with FIDO Ready biometric sensors, whether they are face, voice, or fingerprint modalities. The Kit also includes token-based security in a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant form factor. And importantly, it’s designed for easy integration, allowing IoT device makers to immediately link their products to the biometric security of the IoT stack, and applications developer to seamlessly embed the solution into their software.

Seeking a powerful solution to the security issues associated with the expanding Internet of Things, HYPR has chosen a route favored by many security experts by relying on biometric security. In a statement, HYPR CEO George Avetisov explained that HYPR chose “a security strategy that responsibly utilizes a user’s unique biometric signature by having it be the root of authentication, while never allowing it to leave the device layer.” That approach reflects the broader principles of the FIDO Alliance, of which HYPR recently became a member.
