IDEX has received a new order for its smart card fingerprint sensor technology from Italy-based biometric device developer Card Tech.
The order is part of a larger collaboration announced by the two companies. In a statement, they explained their project to work with “a top-tier card integrator to deliver a biometric card module” that will leverage both companies’ technologies, including IDEX’s flexible off-chip fingerprint sensors. The end products will be targeted at the banking and government ID markets.
Commenting on the collaboration, IDEX CEO Dr. Hemant Mardia called it “a programme for one of the largest card integrators, which is significant validation of our unique card sensor value proposition.”
Such smart card technology is central to IDEX’s business strategy for the year to come, with the company aiming to get its products certified and in mass production for the second half of this year.
IDEX is currently at Mobile World Congress, where Mobile ID World is reporting from live. The company is promoting its new glass and ceramic sensors at the exhibition.
