ImageWare Scores Million Dollar Contract For Mexican Multi-Modal Biometrics

June 27, 2014

IWSLogoToday, ImageWare Systems announced that its has been granted a contract to implement a multi-modal biometric driver license system to the state of Baja California, Mexico. Awarded by the prime contractor on the state project, Funciones Ocupacionales Insha, S.A. de C.V.,the contract is valued at over $1.0 million.

The contract will see ImageWare aiding in the deployment of the system at government offices throughout the state. Deployment will occur in Tijuana, Mexicali, Tecate and Rosarito, as well as at various other locations through the implementation of mobile stations. Over one million licenses are expected to be generated through this contract over the next three years.

Jim Miller, chairman and CEO of ImageWare, expands on winning the contract: “As security needs become more complex and demanding, our customers increasingly appreciate the unique power and flexibility of our patented cloud-based, multi-modal biometric solutions. Our proven track record of providing state-of-the-art biometric solutions for government agencies was a key factor in winning this award.”

At the heart of the system will be ImageWare’s Biometric Engine 2.0, which powers both the CloudID software platform at the base for the project and IWS QuickApps which will provide the user interfaces to register applicants, validate identities and print and encode cards.

One of the key benefits that ImageWare’s cloud biometrics brings to the table in Mexico is an incredible amount of flexibility. The CouldID platform can incorporate existing and future authentication technologies, allowing the customer to set their own security terms. As was explored in a findBIOMETRICS Multi-Modal Month feature article, choice can itself be a strong security factor.
