Apple’s habit of releasing new mobile technology in September has turned the summer months into a rumor mill churning out enough leaks and speculatory statements that when a new iPhone or iPad announcement rolls round nothing is really too surprising. Instead of spoiling the announcement day excitement, the newest rumor to make it to the public’s ears will come as a disappointment for Apple acolytes.
According to industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo, production snags on the newest set of iPhones could see the larger of the two models pushed to a 2015 release date.
Rumor had it that Apple was planning to release both a 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch iPhone model on September 19, 2014. The delay is said to be related to the touch technology, and though the smaller model seems to be on track for it’s later summer launch, the larger model has larger problems.
In terms of mobile identity management, this next generation of iPhones serves to compound the effect last year’s 5S launch had with Touch ID. Yet another rumor, one bolstered by Apple’s WWDC announcement that Touch ID is now open to developers, has the world expecting fingerprint sensors on every non-iPod mobile released this year by the company.
