OT-Morpho eSIM Tech To Keep ASUS Tablet Connected Around The World

June 29, 2017

A new two-in-one tablet from ASUS will feature an embedded SIM from OT-Morpho.

OT-Morpho eSIM Tech To Keep ASUS Tablet Connected Around The WorldCalled the ASUS Transformer Mini, the tablet is scheduled for launch this summer. And according to OT-Morpho, the device’s DakOTa 4.0 eSIM will make it the first consumer-facing computer to feature an eSIM that complies with the GSMA’s Phase 2 specifications.

What that will mean for users is a tablet device that’s pretty much always connected, with the eSIM allowing the device to connect with new cellular services around the world without the need to replace its SIM card. To that end, the tablet will take advantage of Always Connected Windows software, with users able to select new cellular networks through the Microsoft Data Marketplace.

This same eSIM technology was recently integrated by Huawei into a smartwatch device, and its integration with Windows software in a new tablet suggests that OT-Morpho is quickly solidifying its position as a solutions provider in the emerging world of IoT and 5G connectivity.
