Precise BioMatch Mobile Powers K5 Note Sensor

January 25, 2016

Precise BioMatch Mobile Powers K5 Note Sensor

Lenovo has turned once again to Precise Biometrics’ biometric algorithm software for its newest smartphone’s fingerprint sensor. The K5 Note features an FPC1035 sensor model running Precise BioMatch Mobile software.

The integration is the continuation of a longstanding relationship between the companies. Last fall Precise BioMatch Mobile was used in Lenovo’s [Lemon] X3 smartphones, and more recently the technology was integrated in the K4 Note, the predecessor to the new K5. It’s a positive development both for Precise Biometrics and its longstanding hardware partner Fingerprint Cards, whose sensors have ushered Precise BioMatch Mobile into a wide range of mobile devices.

Of course, Precise Biometrics isn’t relying solely on its FPC partnership to get its technology into mobile devices. The company has lately signed a number of licensing deals with other hardware partners, and perhaps prudently, given that Lenovo has also sought sensors from other developers besides FPC for at least one forthcoming mobile device. Nevertheless, the partnership remains fruitful and it’s reasonable to expect further integrations into future Lenovo devices.
