Precise Biometrics has received another order from the US Department of Defense for its Tactivo readers. It follows multiple orders from last year, and once again comes by way of the DoD’s Defense Logistics Agency.
Like the previous order, this new one is for Tactivo for iPhone, a smartphone case that adds a layer of smart card security to the devices, which themselves are already equipped with biometric authentication capabilities in the form of the Touch ID fingerprint scanning system. This newest order’s value is SEK 975,000.
Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson says the latest order is a sign of building momentum, commenting in a statement, “The interest in Tactivo within the US Department of Defense continues to grow and we are pleased that DLA expands the number of Tactivo users.”
Tactivo does seem to have proven particularly appealing to government agencies relying on smart card security, with Precise Biometrics also having seen orders from the US Navy and healthcare authorities in Europe and the UK. With mobile devices increasingly being used to access and transmit sensitive data, the growing interest in Precise Biometrics’ Tactivo solution makes a lot of sense.
