ZUK Z1 Smartphone Uses FPC Sensor

August 15, 2015

ZUK Z1 Smartphone Uses FPC SensorFingerprint Cards AB (FPC) has announced that its technology has been integrated into another prominent China-made smartphone. ZUK’s new Z1 device uses the company’s FPC1155 fingerprint sensor.

It’s the same sensor that was recently integrated into Meizu’s new MX5 smartphone, and it has also proven popular with World Peace Industrial Group, a leading distributor in the Asian OEM market. With this most recent announcement, it’s finding its way into the flagship device of what could be a major new brand in the Lenovo-owned ZUK.

The integration continues a trend that has seen FPC find a lot of success in providing fingerprint sensors for mid- and upper-range smartphone makers based in Asia – a trend that could intensify as multiple prominent mPayment platforms relying on biometric user authentication launch this year.

In a statement, FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto called ZUK a “prominent smartphone manufacturer in China” and expressed pride in the technology’s integration while also pointing out its sophistication. “FPC1155 supports 360 degree finger rotation capability, fast response time and industry leading 3D image quality,” he said.
