CeBIT: VASCO Shows Off Mobile Security Platform

March 15, 2016

VASCO Data Security International is showing off its latest offerings at this year’s CeBIT event. In keeping with its status as a FIDO Alliance board member, the company’s showing will place a strong emphasis on mobile security in the financial services sector.

In addition to its QR-code, e-signature, and Bluetooth solutions, the company will showcase DIGIPASS for Apps, a mobile security platform aimed at app developers. In a statement, the company explained that DIGIPASS for Apps is designed to provide “all of the building blocks necessary to properly secure mobile applications at every level,” with the particular aims of defending apps against targeted hack attacks and accidentally downloaded malware.

VASCO is also going to demonstrate a new system that will eventually be a component of DIGIPASS: Selfie authentication. It’s what it sounds like—a system that leverages a mobile device’s camera to enable authentication based on facial recognition—and it’s pretty similar in concept to the selfie-based authentication solutions now emerging from the likes of Morpho (Safran) and MasterCard with its Identity Check system.

VASCO will demonstrate these offerings at CeBIT via stand N° G43, and Product Manager Nicolas Fort will offer a conference presentation on March 17th entitled “How to increase the security of your mobile banking applications, while keeping an eye on convenience for the user”.
