EyeLock LLC has won the 2016 Edison Silver Award in the category of Consumer Electronics & Information Technology – Security Solution at this year’s Edison Awards Gala. Named after the famous American inventor, the Edison Awards recognize innovation among companies from all over the world.
EyeLock was recognized for its iris-based authentication technology for the Internet of Things. Building on the same iris biometrics technology used in EyeLock’s award-winning USB iris scanner and other offerings from the company, EyeLock IoT is designed to allow OEMs to easily integrate the technology into their IoT products.
The Edison Awards honor offers substantial validation and credibility to the company’s solution. Of the 7,500 companies vetted by the awards team, only 134 were selected as finalists, and those were assessed by a panel of more than 3,000 judges from a range of fields, including business executives, academics, and previous Edison Awards winners.
There could be major market benefits if the award helps to promote EyeLock’s technology for the IoT, given the growth expected for that market. In any case, as EyeLock Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Anthony Antolino sees it, the award is “a testament to the extraordinary talent at EyeLock and capability of our technology.”
