But for many its most notable high-tech features will be its biometric capabilities, with the laptop supporting both facial and fingerprint authentication right out of the box, via the support of the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system and its Windows Hello biometric security platform.
The device was first announced this past January, along with the Portégé X30, with both devices using Synaptics fingerprint sensors for their fingerprint scanning. It’s part of a growing trend, with an increasing number of laptop devices incorporating fingerprint scanning directly into the hardware, and a smaller number supporting facial recognition as well. As such it can play a part in promoting the advantages of biometric security to a growing population of end users.
The Tecra X40 is now available at an MSRP of $1,329.99.
