“Wa! uses Gemalto’s Mobile Protector platform for customer enrollment and authentication, with the system prompting customers to confirm payments using either a PIN or fingerprint scan.”
Gemalto technology is playing a key role in a new mobile wallet solution from European bank BNP Paribas.
The solution, called Wa! and developed by RMW, allows for mobile payments and the integration of digital coupons and loyalty cards. Wa! uses Gemalto’s Mobile Protector platform for customer enrollment and authentication, with the system prompting customers to confirm payments using either a PIN or fingerprint scan.
In a statement announcing Wa!, RMW CEO Jacek Szpakiewicz said that “Gemalto provided a perfect fit for our mobile security needs, combined with ease of use.”
BNP Paribas is currently trialing Wa! in France with Carrefour, one of the biggest retailers in the world. Gemalto has also worked with Carrefour to develop its own custom mPayment solution using Gemalto’s Allynis Trusted Service Hub, a card provisioning and management system.
