Good Technology and Samsung Pair Mobile Productivity with Defense-Grade Security

Mobile SecuritySamsung and Good Technology have teamed up to merge a couple of major security platforms. The companies have announced their new joint venture, Good for Samsung KNOX, calling it “the most secure solution for enterprises and government agencies looking to accelerate their Android programs to drive secure mobile productivity.”
The idea was to create a Good-secured subsection within the Android-based KNOX security framework, where Good’s highly secured work and productivity apps would reside. Samsung KNOX is a highly advanced, US Department of Defense-approved mobile security platform, so Good for Samsung KNOX is essentially an Android-based mobile productivity platform secure enough to be used in extremely sensitive contexts, as in the case of DoD employees needing to do some work from their Android devices.
Good for Samsung KNOX joins the likes of Precise Biometrics’ Tactivo readers in trying to offer mobile security solutions for highly security-sensitive organizations, though it doesn’t seem like the two will be in direct competition since the latter specializes in securing Apple devices. We’ve also seen some recent mobile apps targeted specifically at the military, as in the case of the new USAA app. It seems that now that mobile security has advanced to a level where it’s fit for military applications, these kinds of solutions and apps will continue to proliferate as the niche market expands.
