Where as last week’s news was largely focused on mCommerce thanks to Money20/20, this week saw news with a strong lean toward our monthly theme of vital biometrics. We put a close to our Money20/20 coverage, saw some interesting smartphone news and also talked about the cloud and Google Fiber.
Here are the biggest stories that we’ve reported since Monday.
Vital Biometrics and Healthcare:
November is Vital Biometrics Month here at Mobile ID World and this week we explored how the modality closest to your heart can be used for strong authentication. Meanwhile, your weekly dose of telehealth news came courtesy of LifeWatch and Vital Connect. We even saw vital biometrics make the jump across species with the announcement of a canine harness fitted with motion detection technology and biometric cardiac and body temperature sensors.

In the more general area of smartphones some big developments are underway and we saw evidence of this in the week’s news. Apple responded to critics of iMessage by introducing the ability for users to easily uncouple their phone numbers from the text messaging service. Meanwhile, rumors continued to rumble about Samsung’s new flagship phone and a new report helped build a case for stronger mobile security.

As mentioned above, we closed out coverage of Money20/20 this week, posting an event roundup on the innovative conference. We had news from ImageWare Systems, which partnered with TransUnion in pursuit of a biometric authentication system to protect against fraud. Finally, it was announced this week that Google Fiber will be rolling out to Kansas City. Local startup EyeVerify is particularly pleased about this infrastructural upgrade and the company’s founder and CEO Toby Rush commented on the news.
