A major watch brand has announced new offerings based on Android Wear 2.0, Google’s smartwatch operating system. Movado will launch its new Movado Connect collection this autumn in five men’s styles.
The watches will sport their own customizable dials based on Movado’s Museum dial design, and will support always-on displays. In terms of functionality, they’ll take advantage of Google’s AI assistant platform, the aptly named Google Assistant, and they will also come with Android Pay support and will take advantage of Android Wear 2.0’s enhanced fitness tracking capabilities, though specifics as to how such biometrics will be leveraged haven’t yet been detailed.
Curiously, while Movado and Google were both keen to present the watch collection as a product of close collaboration, the watches will also offer support for Apple’s iOS platform.
Movado owns the Hugo Boss and Tommy Hilfiger brands, and suggested that they were also working with Google on forthcoming products. The Movado Connect watches will launch in the US, Canada, the UK, and the Caribbean, starting at $495 each.
