NEXT Biometrics Working with US Payment Network on Biometric Card Specifications

NEXT Biometrics Working with US Payment Network on Biometric Card Specifications

NEXT Biometrics has announced that it’s working with one of the top five US payment networks to develop Biometric System-on-Card, or “BSoC”, specifications for biometric payment cards. NEXT says it has delivered technical documentation as part of this effort.

The fingerprint sensor specialist did not name the payment network in a statement announcing the project, but the company did explain that the work “is aimed at defining the biometric payment smart cards` system architecture.” NEXT added that the specifications “are based on applicable international standards and industry best practice experience” that it has gained through its own efforts in certification and standards programs.

It’s an important development for NEXT Biometrics, which has been keenly focused on the emerging biometric payment cards market. The company has recently announced multiple partnerships with companies operating in the cards and payments space, and has sought to highlight its large-area fingerprint sensor technology as an apt solution for fingerprint-scanning payment cards.

“The superiority of our large-area sensor technology has been proven by independent studies and is key for an excellent user experience,” said NEXT Biometrics Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel. “This fact and the experience from enrollment and certification processes in a variety of industry sectors have positioned us as the partner of choice for this project.”
