SonicWall has announced its latest email security platform, along with a preview of the newest version of its SonicOS firewall architecture, and the latter will feature support for biometric security.
Available in beta form, SonicOS 6.2.7 enables biometric authentication through mobile devices fingerprint scan. Together with other security features like DPI-SSH encrypted attack detection, extended Dell X-Series port support for firewall management, and VPN gateway provisioning, the system could offer a valuable set of tools to security-conscious IT teams. Meanwhile, SonicWall Email Security 9.0 offers improved Office 365 support, email encryption, and broader support for hardware appliances.
The SonicOS 6.2.7 beta’s embrace of mobile biometric authentication arrives at a time when fingerprint scanners are now almost ubiquitous on newer smartphones, further emphasizing their utility for not only consumer but enterprise security. The company expects an official launch for the platform in late Q1.
