Sri Lankan Bank Uses Daon’s IdentityX for Authentication on Two New Apps

Daon‘s flagship biometric authentication platform is being used in another bank’s mobile banking app, this time in Sri Lanka: Nations Trust Bank has announced that the technology is being used for user authentication on two of its mobile apps.Sri Lankan Bank Uses Daon's IdentityX for Authentication on Two New Apps

One of them is Mobile Banking, a relatively straightforward mobile banking app designed to let Nations Trust Bank customers do things like pay bills, transfer funds, apply for loans, and so on. The other app, FriMi, is designed to be its own, 100 percent mobile banking service, with customers able to sign up online with no need to visit a branch. From there, they can send and receive money between other banks and even users who don’t have FriMi accounts.

Biometric authentication is thus particularly important in the latter case, but both apps get the same sophisticated capabilities through Daon’s IdentityX platform, allowing users to log in via facial, fingerprint, or voice recognition.

In a statement announcing the integrations, Nations Trust Bank COO Thilak Piyadigama explained that the company opted for Daon’s technology in order “to provide our customers with the best user experience possible, while deploying a secure and scalable solution.” Piyadigama added that the response from users has been positive, asserting that “adoption rates are ahead of expectations.”

It’s the latest of numerous adoptions of IdentityX, coming soon after Kony’s announcement in September that it would use Daon’s platform to enable biometric authentication in its AppPlatform V8 solution, and offer it through its Kony Marketplace.
