“[ABCorp] will work with NEXT Biometrics to develop biometric cards, the latter’s key focus area as the fingerprint-scanning payment card market begins to take shape.”
NEXT Biometrics has attained another major new partner in its biometric cards efforts: The company has teamed up with ABCorp.
Headquartered in Connecticut, ABCorp is involved in the design and production of dual-interface EMV cards, and also offers other card and transaction record systems and services. It’s a very old company, dating its founding back to 1795, and today it’s said to be one of the world’s biggest plastic transaction card manufacturers.
Now, the company will work with NEXT Biometrics to develop biometric cards, the latter’s key focus area as the fingerprint-scanning payment card market begins to take shape.
“ABCorp’s expertise entails every aspect of the card manufacturing process from handling of base materials and the interaction of diverse technological elements, including antennas and chips, up to the issuance of high-quality finished cards,” explained NEXT Biometrics Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel in a statement announcing the partnership. “This wealth of experience ideally complements the benefits of our superior large-area sensor technology for a carefree, outstanding end-user experience.”
The collaboration should help to further solidify NEXT Biometrics’ position in the biometric payment cards market after the company’s recent partnership with a major US payment network to develop Biometric System-on-Card specifications. And it arrives on the heels of NEXT Biometrics’ announcement of the pending July resignation of CEO Ritu Favre, suggesting that the company remains on solid footing as it moves forward.
