Amex Makes CLEAR Health Pass Support Free for Resy Restaurants

September 16, 2021

Another high-profile partner has signed on to support CLEAR’s Come Back Better initiative. The program debuted earlier this month, and is part of a broader effort to help businesses reopen safely in the midst of COVID-19.

Amex Makes CLEAR Health Pass Support Free for Resy Restaurants

CLEAR’s latest collaboration focuses specifically on the restaurant industry. The company has revealed that American Express will make CLEAR Health Pass utility free to all restaurants that are using the Resy hospitality platform up until the end of 2022.

Resy is owned by American Express. The platform allows diners to make reservations at participating restaurants, and provides restaurants with the software and technologies they need to manage staff, events, and other aspects of their operations.

CLEAR’s Health Pass will help with both sides of the equation. The app allows people to link their COVID-19 test results and their vaccination record to their digital identity. They can then use the app to share their status at venues that have COVID-19 health requirements. As it relates to the restaurant industry, Resy restaurant owners can use the app to ensure that all of their employees are vaccinated or free of COVID-19, while Resy diners can use it at the door to enter establishments that ask for proof of vaccination.

For its part, American Express is hoping that the partnership will make it easier for restaurants to implement an effective and compliant health and safety program. To that end, the Health Pass will digitize the documentation process and make it easier for restaurants to collect and process all of the information they need to ensure a safe environment.

“Right now, restaurants and small businesses have enough on their plate, and we are excited to team up with Resy to give them one less thing to worry about,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker.

“Our restaurant partners are doing their best to keep up and adapt to new policies that are stretching their limited bandwidth even further,” added Resy VP and GM Alex Lee. “Resy’s goal is to support them by providing a suite of technology that helps streamline operations and allows them to focus on hospitality.”

Individuals can use Health Pass to create Digital Vaccine Cards, while businesses can use it to distribute health surveys to monitor their staff for symptoms of COVID-19. The Resy partnership builds on the existing relationship between CLEAR and American Express, which has previously released credit cards that offer credits on a CLEAR membership.

CLEAR has already formed a similar restaurant-oriented partnership with OpenTable. It has also provided Health Pass screening tech for the NBA, the Venetian Resort, and other cultural establishments.
