Apple iPhone SE 4 Overhaul: New Design, Face ID, and A18 Chip Coming at $499

Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 represents a significant redesign of the company’s budget smartphone lineup, adopting design elements from the iPhone 14 including a 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch. The device’s RAM has been doubled to 8GB from the previous model’s 4GB, a substantial upgrade that should improve multitasking capabilities and overall system performance.

Notable features include USB-C connectivity, following Apple’s broader transition away from the Lightning port, MagSafe charging compatibility, and 5G support. The device also introduces an Action Button replacing the traditional mute switch, similar to the feature first introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro series. The implementation of Face ID in the SE 4 represents a significant security upgrade from the Touch ID system used in previous SE models. Storage configurations remain under discussion, with some reports indicating options beginning at 64GB, while others suggest a 128GB base model with a 256GB tier available. The starting price is expected to be $499, representing a $70 increase from the previous generation’s $429 entry point, though this higher price point reflects the significant technological upgrades and premium features now included in the SE line.
