“In Canada, Service Credit Union customers can now upload their payment cards to the platform, while China Construction Bank has enabled the service for its Mastercard and Visa cardholders.”
A bunch of banks and credit unions have been added to the roster of institutions supporting Apple’s biometrically secured mobile payments platform.
Thirty-six of them are based in the US. With the major national banks and credit unions having long supported Apple Pay by this point, the newcomers are smaller, regional firms such as First State Bank of Bloomington, Heritage Bank of Nevada, and WinsSouth Credit Union.
In addition to these US institutions, Apple Pay also has a few more international supporters. In Canada, Service Credit Union customers can now upload their payment cards to the platform, while China Construction Bank has enabled the service for its Mastercard and Visa cardholders. Hong Kong’s PrimeCredit Limited Visa is now onboard as well.
The extended support comes at an exciting time for Apple Pay users, as the owners of the new iPhone X can now authorize transactions just by looking at their phones, thanks to the device’s Face ID facial recognition system. Meanwhile, users of older iPhones still have the support of the Touch ID biometric authentication system.
