Apple’s 27th annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place from June 13th to June 17th in San Francisco, the company has announced.
It’s an event aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation among developers interested in Apple’s iOS, OS X, watchOS, and tvOS operating systems, particularly with respect to the Swift coding language. It can also give a leg-up to students, offering as many as 350 WWDC Scholarships to those interested in working in Apple’s technological ecosystem.
The event can produce exciting results for users, too. Last year’s conference, for example, led to the announcement of Apple Music and the opening of Apple Watch app development to third party developers, among other announcements. And given that the Apple Watch still doesn’t seem to have fully come into its own as a consumer device, there’s still plenty of room for developers to make an impact via watchOS.
Apple says this year’s WWDC will feature more than a thousand Apple engineers able to provide hands-on help in coding workshops, and thousands more developers from around the world participating as guests. Hopefully that will lead to more exciting news for Apple users by the end of WWDC.
