Nuance Communications has launched an important new addition to its Dragon Drive platform. Called Dragon Drive Automotive Assistant, it’s essentially an AI assistant featuring advanced speech recognition technology.
The system enables advanced voice command functionality for drivers, such as music search, message dictation, and voice-activated calling. But it also features sophisticated artificial intelligence allowing it to find special points of interest and alert the driver to changing contextual conditions like when it’s time for an oil change – and where to get it. Given these sophisticated capabilities, the system has already been named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree.
The system complements Nuance’s Dragon Drive platform, which was first unveiled back in early 2014. At the beginning of last year, Nuance announced that the system had been updated with the more advanced AI and voice command capabilities that would evidently become the backbone of Dragon Drive Automotive Assistant. Now, Dragon Drive is being used in cars from a number of prominent manufacturers including BMW, Audi, and many others.
