EnStream Makes Case for Mobile Connect System

EnStream continues to spread the word about its Canadian Mobile Connect pilot project.

Together with the country’s leading MNOs – Bell, Rogers, and Telus – the company is running a trial of the first authentication service in the world to comply with the GSMA Mobile Connect Smartphone App Authenticator Specification. The system is designed to offer a secure mobile authentication service to the MNOs providing it, while allowing them to implement their own branding on the service. For end users, that means they can log in to various Mobile Connect-supporting online accounts without resorting to traditional user names and passwords, using smartphone notifications to authenticate instead. Canadian Mobile Connect also supports smartphone biometrics like Touch ID, allowing for an additional level of assurance in the authentication process.

The system was nominated for a GSMA Global Mobile Award at this year’s Mobile World Congress, and could pave the way for the proliferation of other mobile authentication services around the world if it proves popular with users and the companies employing it.
