With awareness of the need for two-factor authentication security on the rise, Yubico is putting some key case studies in the spotlight to demonstrate its impact.
A key one is the firm’s collaboration with Duo Security to secure Facebook employees. The social media giant was looking for a simple yet effective way to authenticate its more than 30,000 employees, which prompted Duo Security to integrate Yubico’s YubiKey U2F solution into its solutions portfolio – which Facebook enthusiastically embraced.
That was back in 2013. This year, Facebook proceeded to enable FIDO-based two-factor authentication for users, who can now leverage YubiKey USB keys and other such devices to bring stronger authentication security to their accounts. That appears to be a testament to the wisdom of Duo Security’s early adoption of Yubico’s FIDO-based solution.
In Yubico’s case study on its blog, Duo Security VP of Product Ash Devata explains that, “[a]s a globally ecognized leading authentication standard, U2F is something we absolutely want our customers having access to.” And Yubico notes that in June of this year the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recognized FIDO’s Universal 2nd Factor standard in the highest Authenticator Assurance Level – AAL3 – of its NIST Special Publication 800-63 Revision3 guideline. Thus the appeal of its YubiKey solution has only increased since its initial collaboration with Duo Security back in 2013.
That, in turn, should bring more clients and end customers to the table as more organizations and everyday consumers seek advanced security solutions that can meet evolving digital threats.
