FPC Takes Another Step into PC Market with Huawei Matebook E Integration

May 23, 2017

“…FPC says that the Matebook E deployment is unique in its adaptation for use with Windows 10’s Windows Hello biometric authentication system, and its use with Intel processor technology.”

Fingerprint Cards has taken another step toward the PC market with a new Huawei device integration: Its FPC1145 sensor is being used in the new Matebook E convertible tablet notebook.

FPC Takes Another Step Toward PC Market with Huawei Matebook E IntegrationWhile the sensor model has seen other mobile integrations, FPC says that the Matebook E deployment is unique in its adaptation for use with Windows 10’s Windows Hello biometric authentication system, and its use with Intel processor technology. While the Matebook E may technically still be a mobile device – it is essentially a tablet – Huawei has clearly designed it to offer PC performance, with FPC’s technology helping to boost the number of third party devices supporting Microsoft’s Windows Hello biometric security platform.

In a statement announcing the integration, FPC Head of Business Line PC and Embedded Niklas Strid said “Huawei Matebook E users can say goodbye to their difficult-to-remember passwords, identify themselves with Windows Hello and enjoy a more convenient and secure PC experience.”

It’s the first major step toward PC integrations since FPC announced its new PC-focused software at the start of this year. While the company has been navigating what it predicted to be a difficult first half of the year with respect to a heavily saturated mobile biometrics market, its latest development with Huawei offers a propitious sign of its efforts to expand into new areas.
