“The [award winning] ICAO-compliant document features an embedded chip designed to store facial and fingerprint biometrics data…”
Gemalto and the National Police Board of Finland are celebrating their win for Best Regional ID Document in this year’s High Security Printing EMEA conference.
The two organizations won for a biometric ePassport and ID card featuring Gemalto technology. The ICAO-compliant document features an embedded chip designed to store facial and fingerprint biometrics data, and also has other security elements including a laser-inscribed ‘ghost image’ of the document holder.
Together with more aesthetic design elements, the security features helped to net the award from Reconnaissance, the organizer of the High Security Printing EMEA conference, which was established back in 2004. Acknowledging the award in a statement, Gemalto SVP Tommi Nordberg praised the company’s government partners in the project, saying the award “confirms that Finland has once again raised the bar in terms of creativity, convenience and protection.”
This year’s HSP EMEA conference was held earlier this spring in Baku, Azerbaijan.
