Mobile payments and biometric security will share much of the spotlight at this year’s TRANSACT event, a payments technology expo organized by the Electronic Transactions Association.
The ETA has come up with a competition modelled after Shark Tank called the TRANSACT 16 Payments Pitch-Off, in which mPayment startups will pitch their ideas to venture capital judges. The top ten competitors will do so live on the show floor during the ETA event, and the winner will receive $25,000 in funding. It is perhaps a sign of the growing prominence of mPayment platforms like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay continue to spread around the world.
Of course, as more sensitive consumer data is transmitted across these mPayment platforms, new security challenges are emerging. That’s why the ETA has teamed up with the FIDO Alliance to organize TRANSACT’s Security Tech Zone, an area on the show floor that will showcase security solutions such as biometric authentication from FIDO members including Egis Technology, Samsung SDS America, Synaptics, Sensory, and more.
The TRANSACT event will run from April 19th to 21st in Las Vegas.
