“The companies say their solution is already finding a range of applications including ‘automotive entertainment and infotainment systems, QR code payment scanning applications and smart home speakers.'”
NXP Semiconductors has teamed up with Alibaba Cloud to develop solutions for the Internet of Things.
Alibaba Cloud is the IoT-focused cloud computing arm of China-based e-commerce giant Alibaba. The company has developed an operating system for the IoT called AliOS, and its partnership with NXP Semiconductors will see it integrated into the latter’s Layerscape processors and other chip solutions.
The companies say their solution is already finding a range of applications including “automotive entertainment and infotainment systems, QR code payment scanning applications and smart home speakers.”
Looking ahead, Alibaba Cloud General Manager of IoT Ku Wei says that with “the integration of AliOS Things with NXP’s applications processors and microcontroller chips, our comprehensive solution will better serve the development of China’s local commercial and manufacturing industries.”
NXP’s partnership with Alibaba Cloud has also brought it onto the council of the ICA IoT Connectivity Alliance, an IoT-focused standards consortium headed by Alibaba.
