Samsung KNOX 2.6 has outperformed other mobile security solutions in a new comparative report from Gartner. Entitled “Mobile Device Security: A Comparison of Platforms”, the report gave Samsung KNOX a “Strong” rating in more categories than any other subject.
The mobile security platform did particularly well in the area of Corporate Managed Security, where it was the only platform to get “Strong” ratings for every listed security control. In a statement announcing the results, Samsung asserted that they highlight KNOX’s utility in the areas of “Authentication Methods, Encryption Management, Jailbreak/Root Protection and App Vetting”. Meanwhile, Samsung EVP Injong Rhee expressed pride in the Gartner evaluations, calling KNOX “a ready-made hardware-vaulted security platform on which many mobile applications can be built with strong security and privacy protections on Samsung smartphone hardware.”
In its own use of KNOX, Samsung has put its money where its mouth is, with the security platform being used in the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagship smartphones, as well as Samsung’s mPayment platform, Samsung Pay. The company says it has also been optimized for use with Android M, Google’s latest mobile operating system, so if Gartner’s findings are accurate, a large and growing number of mobile users are benefiting from highly sophisticated embedded mobile security.
