“Its use of iris recognition for user authentication, meanwhile, offers the kind of sophisticated biometric security that is increasingly sought by businesses and other organizations.”
Samsung has launched a business version of its Galaxy Note8 smartphone, the company has announced.
The aptly named Galaxy Note8 Enterprise Edition offers a couple of key features for enterprise deployments. One, Knox Configure, allows IT administrators to remotely configure and deploy branded workplace versions of the device to staff. Similarly, Enterprise Firmware Over the Air (E-FOTA) lets admins remotely schedule software updates for the entire fleet of devices. The devices are also guaranteed to receive monthly security updates for up to three years.
The device also includes all the flagship features that make the standard version of the Note8 special, including a 6.3″ Infinity Display, wireless charging, IP68 water and dust resistance, and the S Pen stylus. Its use of iris recognition for user authentication, meanwhile, offers the kind of sophisticated biometric security that is increasingly sought by businesses and other organizations.
That last feature in particular could be the one used by managers to justify the device’s $994 price tag. The Galaxy Note8 Enterprise Edition is available for order now from Samsung distributors.
