Multiple IDEMIA Execs Appointed To Leading Positions In Standards Bodies

IDEMIA is celebrating the appointment of multiple company executives to leading positions with standards bodies.

The latest such development concerns IDEMIA Senior Technical Marketing Davide Pratone, who has officially been named Chairman of ETSI Smart Card Platform and Requirements, or ETSI SCP REQ. ETSI is an ICT standards group that is officially recognized as a European Standards Organization by the European Union.

But Pratone’s confirmation to that role comes in wake of two other major appointments made in September, when IDEMIA Technical Marketing Director Remy Cricco was elected Chairman of the SIMalliance, and IDEMIA Senior Standardization Manager Heiko Kruse was appointed Chairman of the 3GPP CT WG6, the telecommunications alliance’s smart cards-focused working group.

Each appointment, to a degree, points to IDEMIA’s growing interest in the emerging biometric smart cards market, with the company having conducted field tests of biometric payment cards with Mastercard this year, and having recently announced a smart card-focused partnership with biometric sensor specialist Fingerprint Cards, and an expansion of its partnership with fellow fingerprint technology firm IDEX.
