Voice biometrics developer VoiceVault has announced a new identity management solution at this week’s Money20/20 conference. Called VoiceVault Identity Manager, or vIM, it’s designed to automate password reset requests.
The system can be accessed via iOS and Android mobile devices, or it can implemented via a dedicated phone line. When a customer is locked out of her account, she can simply access the app or call the dedicated number, and within five seconds of speaking VoiceVault’s voice recognition technology can identify that user. It’s a simple and inexpensive means of user authentication that offer a convenient solution to the customer in account freeze or lockout situations, and a reduction in administrative costs on the part of the business employing it.
It’s the second major announcement from VoiceVault at this year’s Money20/20, the first being the launch of the Voice e-Signature, a voice-based signature replacement developed in collaboration with Enacomm. Given that financial institutions and other organizations are increasingly looking to voice identification for their call-in centres, vIM could find a growing market along with the Voice e-Signature, especially among early adopters looking for more efficient solutions to cumbersome archaic systems.
