Biometric identification technology developer Zwipe has announced an update to its access control platform. Zwipe Access 2.0 was launched by the company at this week’s IFSEC International conference in London.
Similar to the Zwipe ID solution launched this past February, Zwipe Access enables biometric access control via smart cards featuring embedded 3D capacitive fingerprint scanners. Adding to the system’s security, all biometric matching is performed on the card itself, ensuring that users’ biometric data is not transmitted to external servers, and thereby protected against potential interception.
In a statement announcing Zwipe Access 2.0, Zwipe asserted that the biometric smart card is “compatible with all popular proximity and smart card readers, including those from HID, Allegion and Farpointe.” The company says that version 2.0 is more accurate with lower false rejection rates, features improved image capture, and offers faster authentication.
