“ID applications such as border control, benefit distributions, healthcare, elections, law enforcement and public safety will all benefit from these enhancements.” – Yash Shah, CTO, Credence ID
Credence ID has announced a new, ruggedized version of its CredenceTWO biometric handheld – the CredenceTWO-R.
The device builds on the foundation of the CredenceTWO’s core features, including a FAP 30 fingerprint sensor and 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. But it now also notably features a Single Board Computer, a strengthened mechanical enclosure, and tough outer shell, helping to ensure that it can withstand harsh conditions.
Further to that point, the CredenceTWO-R meets the US Department of Defense’s rigorous Mil-STD-810G standard for environmental design and performance. That means it has been put through the ringer, with tests including the Transit Drop Test, in which a subject device is dropped from a height of 48 inches 26 times, and from different angles.
What’s more, the device also now features a 13MP camera for facial recognition, bar code, and ICAO document reading; and it has new 4G options for AT&T and Verizon networks in the US, and 4G LTE modem options for the EMEA regions.
The latter functionality is particularly apropos after the news in June that the US Department of Commerce has named Credence ID founder and CEO Bruce Hanson to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. And the CredenceTWO-R in general points to Credence ID’s strong focus on enhancing its flagship solutions and ensuring that it’s at the cutting edge of field-ready biometric tech.
