Kneron has been recognized with a 2020 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award from the Business Intelligence Group (BIG). The awards were set up to honor pioneering AI achievements that help address real world problems for employees and consumers alike.
To that end, Kneron is developing embedded hardware and software solutions that will improve the edge AI inferencing capabilities of IoT devices. The end-to-end technology will supplement cloud-based AI inferencing and allow more AI inferencing to be handled on the device itself.
Kneron’s current portfolio includes machine learning algorithms for face and gesture recognition that have extremely small memory footprints. The company also offers a neural processing unit for low power devices, as well as a KL520 AI chip that will speed up AI applications on mass market IoT devices.
The technology has a range of different applications, including smartphones, smart cars, smart homes, and payments.
“It was clear to our judges that Kneron was using AI to improve the lives of their customers and employees,” said BIG Chief Nominations Officer Maria Jimenez.
“Kneron is honored to have been recognized by Business Intelligence Group for excellence in artificial intelligence,” added Kneron Co-Founder and CEO Albert Liu. “This award serves as inspiration for us to continue democratizing AI through building the Edge AI Net.”
Kneron’s Facial Recognition Solution is already being used for attendance management and access control at a public bank in Taiwan. As the recipient of the 2020 Award, Kneron is following in the footsteps of Jumio, which received a BIG Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award in 2019.
