“While Asia is an important source of growth – we are really seeing our business expand on a global basis.” – Mike DePasquale, CEO, BIO-key
Biometrics specialist BIO-key has won a big new contract in the Asia market, with CEO Mike DePasquale discussing the deal on the Uptick Newswire Stock Day Podcast.
Speaking to host Everett Jolly, DePasquale explained that the contract is valued at $10 million, and is “primarily for software use across various applications in the Asian markets”. The Asian market is an area of growing importance for BIO-key, which had announced it would target the region intensively as part of a larger business strategy going into 2018. On that note, BIO-key also announced last week that it had secured an important new contract to supply the Singapore Police Force with biometric authentication technologies.
But DePasquale was also keen to emphasize in the interview that his firm is seeing strong growth beyond the APAC market. “While Asia is an important source of growth – we are really seeing our business expand on a global basis,” he said.
The high-profile interview is itself a sign of BIO-key’s success and rising profile as a biometric solutions provider, and also offered DePasquale an opportunity to discuss the company’s important relationship with Microsoft with respect to its Windows Hello biometric authentication platform, and the state of the art more broadly as biometric technology continues to become more popular in mainstream markets.
